Montreal-based artist collective TYXNA has created their largest mural in Montreal to date, a monumental 650 m² tribute to cyclist Hugo Houle. To ensure it stands out both day and night, they partnered with Concept Illumination to design and deliver a custom lighting solution. Now visible notably from Mount Royal, the mural has become a true landmark within Montreal’s urban landscape.
“Our goal was to create a warm, even illumination while addressing the technical constraints of the site,” explains Daniel Herz, Director of Sales at Concept Illumination.
Installing the fixtures on the rooftop required a tailored approach to accommodate the building’s stepped roofline. Multiple beam angles were tested to achieve uniform coverage across the entire façade. A 3000K color temperature was chosen to highlight the mural’s beige and cream tones, adding natural depth to the artwork.
“A success!” says Fred Fuse, Artist / Co-founder of TYXNA. “A true team effort, supported by impeccable service! I particularly want to highlight the energy, creativity, and dynamism of the Concept Illumination team.”
Completed on a tight schedule, the project exceeded expectations by providing outstanding nighttime visibility. For Concept Illumination, it is a valued opportunity to contribute to the city’s nighttime landscape and support public art of this scale.
