As part of a major project, Crombie REIT entrusted Concept Illumination with the complete modernization of the exterior lighting for 12 properties across Quebec and Eastern Ontario, with a clear objective: a portfolio of properties lit entirely using LED technology.

The mandate covered all outdoor luminaires, including wall packs, wall-mounted cylinders, pylon signs, recessed luminaires, and lampposts. Some properties had already been partially converted to LED, while others had no LED luminaires at all, requiring a customized approach for each site.

The widespread location of the properties, stretching from the Outaouais to the Gaspé Peninsula, presented a significant logistical challenge. Concept Illumination implemented rigorous rollout planning by strategically grouping sites together, optimizing travel, maintaining a steady pace of installation, and ensuring consistent execution across the entire territory.

The wide variety of existing fixtures, both LED and non-LED, required methodical cataloging, measurement, and technical validation. Each replacement was carefully selected to ensure optimal compatibility, both in terms of physical integration and lighting performance, while taking into account the specific requirements of each environment.

Particular attention was paid to visual consistency across all shopping centers in the portfolio. The properties featured different models of LED luminaires with varying color temperatures. Existing selectable CCT luminaires were adjusted where possible, and new fixtures were carefully selected to blend in seamlessly with the existing ones, ensuring lasting uniformity from site to site.

The tight project schedule required close coordination between Concept Illumination, installers, and suppliers. Equipment was ordered, delivered, and grouped by property in advance, reducing delays in the field and ensuring smooth and controlled progress of the work.

At the end of the mandate, all 12 properties had been fully converted to LED. The quality and uniformity of lighting were significantly improved, contributing to better visibility of the sites and a safer environment for tenants, visitors, and users. In the long term, Crombie REIT benefits from reduced maintenance costs, increased energy efficiency, and enhanced facades and outdoor spaces.

The project was successfully delivered in ten weeks. The client expressed great satisfaction with the pace of installation, the quality of communications, and the overall project flow, noting in particular the importance of completing the mandate before fall 2025, as required.
